Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Software & Computer Services , Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 4.56% to hit a new 52-week low.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON: FRES ), which rose 1.34% or 11.00 points to trade at 833.50 at the close. Meanwhile, NatWest Group PLC (LON: NWG ) added 0.60% or 2.48 points to end at 415.88 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON: FLTRF ) was up 0.47% or 75.00 points to 16,160.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Melrose Industries PLC (LON: MRON ), which fell 7.86% or 33.40 points to trade at 391.60 at the close. Relx PLC (LON: REL ) declined 7.84% or 299.00 points to end at 3,517.00 and Sage Group PLC (LON: SGE ) was down 7.74% or 92.00 points to 1,097.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1626 to 360 and 411 ended unchanged.

Shares in Melrose Industries PLC (LON: MRON ) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.86% or 33.40 to 391.60.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.32% or 40.01 to $2,995.39 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.92% or 1.19 to hit $60.80 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.86% or 1.22 to trade at $64.36 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 1.34% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP rose 0.95% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 103.28.
