Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Healthcare , IT and REITs sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.76%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX: NG ), which rose 4.61% or 0.19 points to trade at 4.31 at the close. Meanwhile, Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX: TXG ) added 2.90% or 1.37 points to end at 48.61 and G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX: GMIN ) was up 2.58% or 0.53 points to 21.09 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR ), which fell 9.52% or 0.65 points to trade at 6.18 at the close. Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX: BHC ) declined 7.92% or 0.56 points to end at 6.51 and Denison Mines Corp (TSX: DML ) was down 6.88% or 0.13 points to 1.76.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 588 to 320 and 74 ended unchanged.

Shares in Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX: TXG ) rose to all time highs; rising 2.90% or 1.37 to 48.61.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 12.42% to 29.86.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.16% or 105.04 to $3,433.44 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.03% or 1.30 to hit $62.71 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.09% or 1.42 to trade at $66.54 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR fell 0.88% to 0.63.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.96% at 98.18.
