Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electric Power , Public Utilities and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.34%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (BVMF: JBSS3 ), which rose 6.38% or 2.84 points to trade at 47.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF: USIM5 ) added 6.30% or 0.36 points to end at 6.07 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF: CVCB3 ) was up 5.91% or 0.13 points to 2.33 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF: COGN3 ), which fell 8.08% or 0.21 points to trade at 2.39 at the close. Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF: MGLU3 ) declined 5.92% or 0.60 points to end at 9.54 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF: YDUQ3 ) was down 5.50% or 0.81 points to 13.93.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 638 to 320 and 50 ended unchanged.

Shares in JBS SA (BVMF: JBSS3 ) rose to all time highs; up 6.38% or 2.84 to 47.34.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.93% to 32.68.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 3.39% or 115.88 to $3,303.52 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.14% or 1.36 to hit $62.31 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 3.42% or 12.75 to trade at $385.50 .

USD/BRL was down 0.28% to 5.71, while EUR/BRL fell 1.16% to 6.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.05% at 99.73.
