Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate , Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.61%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO: 6506 ), which rose 6.18% or 170.50 points to trade at 2,927.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Nintendo Co Ltd (TYO: 7974 ) added 5.62% or 585.00 points to end at 11,000.00 and Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (TYO: 5802 ) was up 4.95% or 103.00 points to 2,184.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were East Japan Railway Co. (TYO: 9020 ), which fell 5.70% or 186.00 points to trade at 3,075.00 at the close. Nichirei Corp. (TYO: 2871 ) declined 5.11% or 102.50 points to end at 1,905.00 and Nitori Holdings Co Ltd (TYO: 9843 ) was down 4.80% or 830.00 points to 16,450.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2032 to 1583 and 237 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.10% to 27.84.

Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.87% or 0.54 to $62.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.80% or 0.53 to hit $66.65 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.56% or 51.45 to trade at $3,345.55 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.56% to 142.59, while EUR/JPY fell 0.22% to 161.97.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 99.30.
