Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Gold , Healthcare and Metals & Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Resmed Inc DRC (ASX: RMD ), which rose 8.51% or 2.83 points to trade at 36.08 at the close. Meanwhile, St Barbara Ltd (ASX: SBM ) added 5.45% or 0.02 points to end at 0.29 and Zip Co Ltd (ASX: ZIP ) was up 6.83% or 0.11 points to 1.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Austal Ltd (ASX: ASB ), which fell 1.97% or 0.10 points to trade at 4.98 at the close. Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX: WDS ) declined 2.01% or 0.41 points to end at 20.01 and Technology One Ltd (ASX: TNE ) was down 1.72% or 0.49 points to 28.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 718 to 358 and 422 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 1.59% to 12.96.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.09% or 36.06 to $3,330.16 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.63% or 0.39 to hit $62.66 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.37 to trade at $66.49 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY fell 0.35% to 90.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 99.41.
