Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation , Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Weir Group PLC (LON: WEIR ), which rose 4.54% or 100.00 points to trade at 2,302.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Ashtead Group PLC (LON: AHT ) added 3.29% or 131.00 points to end at 4,108.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON: AAL ) was up 2.67% or 56.00 points to 2,155.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Legal & General Group PLC (LON: LGEN ), which fell 5.74% or 14.40 points to trade at 236.70 at the close. Hiscox Ltd (LON: HSX ) declined 3.18% or 37.00 points to end at 1,126.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON: BNZL ) was down 2.85% or 68.00 points to 2,318.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1052 to 733 and 577 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.52% or 50.11 to $3,344.21 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $62.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.13 to trade at $65.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.38% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 99.29.
