Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare , IT and Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 1.04%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Cargojet Inc (TSX: CJT ), which rose 15.34% or 11.64 points to trade at 87.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ) added 11.48% or 0.07 points to end at 0.68 and TFI International Inc (TSX: TFII ) was up 7.32% or 7.98 points to 116.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aecon Group Inc . (TSX: ARE ), which fell 9.84% or 1.71 points to trade at 15.67 at the close. Boyd Group Services Inc (TSX: BYD ) declined 4.10% or 8.74 points to end at 204.35 and Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX: AYA ) was down 2.62% or 0.26 points to 9.66.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 628 to 255 and 88 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 5.14% to 23.62.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.81% or 59.67 to $3,353.77 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.75% or 0.47 to hit $62.74 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.35 to trade at $66.47 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.25% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.44% to 0.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 99.04.
