Investing.com-- The Chinese startup behind Manus AI has raised $75 million in a funding round led by U.S. venture capital firm Benchmark, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The funding, which also included participation from existing investors, quintupled the startup’s valuation to nearly $500 million, according to the report.
The company, known as Butterfly Effect, plans to use the capital to expand into markets including the U.S., Japan, and the Middle East, the report said.
Manus gained attention in March after unveiling a general-purpose AI agent capable of handling tasks like resume screening, trip planning, and stock analysis. The firm claimed that the agent outperforms OpenAI’s recently launched Deep Research tool on several metrics.
The startup recently launched a subscription service, with prices starting at $39 per month.
Manus previously raised over $10 million from investors including Tencent (HK: 0700 ), ZhenFund, and HSG, Bloomberg reported, citing Chinese media reports.
