Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare , Telecoms and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.41% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (EBR: SOF ), which rose 2.81% or 7.00 points to trade at 256.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Argen-X (EBR: ARGX ) added 1.60% or 8.20 points to end at 521.80 and UCB SA (EBR: UCB ) was up 1.58% or 2.55 points to 163.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Montea C.V.A. (EBR: MONTE ), which fell 1.21% or 0.80 points to trade at 65.40 at the close. Cofinimmo SA (EBR: COFB ) declined 1.19% or 0.90 points to end at 74.85 and Warehouses de Pauw Comm VA (EBR: WDPP ) was down 1.13% or 0.24 points to 20.98.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 50 to 46 and 11 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.89% or 29.36 to $3,313.96 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.31% or 0.19 to hit $61.84 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.19 to trade at $65.19 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.63% at 99.35.
