Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare , Financials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 1.91%, while the S&P 500 index fell 1.61%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Coca-Cola Co (NYSE: KO ), which rose 0.15% or 0.11 points to trade at 71.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG ) fell 0.13% or 0.21 points to end at 165.43 and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ ) was down 0.31% or 0.48 points to 153.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unitedhealth Group (NYSE: UNH ), which fell 5.78% or 18.58 points to trade at 303.00 at the close. Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE ) declined 4.12% or 2.58 points to end at 59.98 and American Express Company (NYSE: AXP ) was down 3.43% or 10.17 points to 286.00.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Alphabet Inc Class C (NASDAQ: GOOG ) which rose 2.86% to 170.05, Alphabet Inc Class A (NASDAQ: GOOGL ) which was up 2.79% to settle at 168.56 and CF Industries Holdings Inc (NYSE: CF ) which gained 1.63% to close at 89.35.
The worst performers were Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE: FICO ) which was down 15.74% to 1,707.94 in late trade, The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES ) which lost 9.92% to settle at 10.13 and Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: MRNA ) which was down 7.79% to 25.81 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Lottery.com Inc (NASDAQ: LTRY ) which rose 133.26% to 1.77, SigmaTron International Inc (NASDAQ: SGMA ) which was up 130.23% to settle at 2.97 and CFSB Bancorp Inc (NASDAQ: CFSB ) which gained 73.82% to close at 13.68.
The worst performers were Petros Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: PTPI ) which was down 46.45% to 0.07 in late trade, UroGen Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ: URGN ) which lost 44.70% to settle at 4.17 and LeddarTech Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: LDTC ) which was down 40.56% to 0.31 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2486 to 325 and 29 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2733 fell and 598 advanced, while 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Petros Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: PTPI ) fell to all time lows; down 46.45% or 0.06 to 0.07. Shares in UroGen Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ: URGN ) fell to all time lows; down 44.70% or 3.37 to 4.17. Shares in CFSB Bancorp Inc (NASDAQ: CFSB ) rose to all time highs; rising 73.82% or 5.81 to 13.68.
The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 15.42% to 20.88.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.06% or 34.74 to $3,319.34 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.13% or 0.70 to hit $61.33 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 0.73 to trade at $64.65 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.39% to 1.13, while USD/JPY fell 0.61% to 143.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 99.48.
