Investing.com – Canada stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare , IT and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite declined 0.83%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Ngex Minerals Ltd (TSX: NGEX ), which rose 15.74% or 1.92 points to trade at 14.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Orla Mining Ltd (TSX: OLA ) added 6.77% or 0.90 points to end at 14.19 and G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX: GMIN ) was up 5.97% or 1.17 points to 20.77 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ATS Corporation (TSX: ATS ), which fell 6.12% or 2.39 points to trade at 36.69 at the close. Colliers International Group Inc Bats (TSX: CIGI ) declined 5.39% or 9.42 points to end at 165.46 and Premium Brands Holdings Corporation (TSX: PBH ) was down 5.30% or 4.44 points to 79.34.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 598 to 305 and 94 ended unchanged.

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 22.15% to 16.27.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.05% or 34.46 to $3,319.06 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.13% or 0.70 to hit $61.33 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.12% or 0.73 to trade at $64.65 a barrel.

CAD/USD was unchanged 0.43% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.04% to 0.64.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 99.48.
