Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials , IT and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were MDA Ltd (TSX: MDA ), which rose 7.60% or 1.99 points to trade at 28.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Aecon Group Inc . (TSX: ARE ) added 3.82% or 0.70 points to end at 19.04 and Celestica Inc. (TSX: CLS ) was up 3.74% or 5.92 points to 164.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lightspeed Commerce Inc (TSX: LSPD ), which fell 7.97% or 1.19 points to trade at 13.74 at the close. G Mining Ventures Corp (TSX: GMIN ) declined 5.63% or 1.17 points to end at 19.60 and Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners LP (TSX: BEP_u ) was down 4.78% or 1.59 points to 31.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 481 to 414 and 93 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 19.42% to 13.11.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.59% or 19.58 to $3,293.92 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.32% or 0.81 to hit $60.76 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.37% or 0.89 to trade at $64.02 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.42% to 0.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 99.80.
