Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Materials , Clean Technology and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX: EFR ), which rose 18.08% or 1.13 points to trade at 7.38 at the close. Meanwhile, NexGen Energy Ltd. (TSX: NXE ) added 13.49% or 1.02 points to end at 8.58 and Denison Mines Corp (TSX: DML ) was up 11.59% or 0.24 points to 2.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ), which fell 3.23% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.60 at the close. BlackBerry Ltd (TSX: BB ) declined 3.18% or 0.17 points to end at 5.18 and Shopify Inc (TSX: SHOP ) was down 2.57% or 3.68 points to 139.51.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 581 to 348 and 79 ended unchanged.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.81% to 13.74.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 2.01% or 66.29 to $3,361.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.83% or 0.51 to hit $61.71 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.52 to trade at $64.96 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.97% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.21% to 0.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.87% at 98.98.
