Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Public Utilities , Electric Power and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.23%.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Sendas Distribuidora SA (BVMF: ASAI3 ), which rose 5.97% or 0.60 points to trade at 10.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Azul SA Pref (BVMF: AZUL4 ) added 4.81% or 0.05 points to end at 1.09 and Braskem SA (BVMF: BRKM5 ) was up 4.15% or 0.46 points to 11.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Raizen SA Preferred (BVMF: RAIZ4 ), which fell 7.94% or 0.17 points to trade at 1.97 at the close. JBS SA (BVMF: JBSS3 ) declined 3.63% or 1.48 points to end at 39.26 and Pet Center Comercio e Partcipacoes (BVMF: PETZ3 ) was down 3.13% or 0.14 points to 4.34.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 480 to 383 and 69 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.69% to 31.21.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.70% or 23.90 to $3,370.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $61.53 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.07% or 0.25 to trade at $361.00 .

USD/BRL was up 0.46% to 5.67, while EUR/BRL rose 0.66% to 6.46.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 98.89.
