Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications , Industrial Metals & Mining and Software & Computer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON: PSHP ), which rose 2.01% or 78.00 points to trade at 3,954.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Unite Group PLC (LON: UTG ) added 1.83% or 15.00 points to end at 835.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON: HIK ) was up 1.71% or 36.00 points to 2,148.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kingfisher PLC (LON: KGF ), which fell 3.55% or 10.50 points to trade at 285.30 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON: SBRY ) declined 3.07% or 9.00 points to end at 284.00 and Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON: LLOY ) was down 2.37% or 1.86 points to 76.62.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 854 to 839 and 655 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.18% or 6.06 to $3,322.24 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.09% or 1.27 to hit $62.16 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.68% or 1.07 to trade at $64.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 99.83.
