Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Healthcare and Financials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.49%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.47%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ), which rose 2.56% or 2.08 points to trade at 83.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA: TCFP ) added 2.06% or 5.50 points to end at 272.40 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA: MICP ) was up 0.74% or 0.25 points to 33.88 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA: ESLX ), which fell 2.21% or 5.60 points to trade at 247.60 at the close. Renault SA (EPA: RENA ) declined 2.21% or 1.04 points to end at 46.03 and Stellantis NV (EPA: STLAM ) was down 2.17% or 0.20 points to 9.02.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA: VIRI ) which rose 3.30% to 57.85, Dassault Aviation SA (EPA: AM ) which was up 2.89% to settle at 320.80 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ) which gained 2.56% to close at 83.18.

The worst performers were Soitec SA (EPA: SOIT ) which was down 21.75% to 44.48 in late trade, Derichebourg (EPA: DBG ) which lost 8.62% to settle at 5.89 and Lectra SA (EPA: LECS ) which was down 3.84% to 23.80 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 247 to 232 and 105 ended unchanged.

Shares in Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.56% or 2.08 to 83.18. Shares in Thales (EPA: TCFP ) rose to all time highs; up 2.06% or 5.50 to 272.40. Shares in Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.56% or 2.08 to 83.18.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.19% or 6.16 to $3,322.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.12% or 1.29 to hit $62.18 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 1.08 to trade at $64.65 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.34% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.07% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 99.82.
