Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials , Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Brava Energia SA (BVMF: BRAV3 ), which rose 4.28% or 0.81 points to trade at 19.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF: VAMO3 ) added 3.75% or 0.17 points to end at 4.70 and Petroreconcavo SA (BVMF: RECV3 ) was up 3.40% or 0.49 points to 14.89 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF: USIM5 ), which fell 4.67% or 0.26 points to trade at 5.31 at the close. Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) declined 4.00% or 0.01 points to end at 0.24 and Azul SA Pref (BVMF: AZUL4 ) was down 3.74% or 0.04 points to 1.03.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 518 to 400 and 62 ended unchanged.
Shares in Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) fell to all time lows; falling 4.00% or 0.01 to 0.24.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 11.09% to 27.75.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.18% or 6.05 to $3,322.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.51% or 0.92 to hit $61.81 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.75% or 9.95 to trade at $351.75 .
USD/BRL was up 0.88% to 5.69, while EUR/BRL rose 0.58% to 6.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 99.78.
