Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Mining and Power sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index gained 0.89%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX: TATN_p ), which rose 0.41% or 2.70 points to trade at 668.30 at the close. Meanwhile, TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin (MCX: TATN ) added 0.31% or 2.10 points to end at 687.90 and Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref (MCX: SNGS_p ) was up 0.30% or 0.15 points to 50.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were PIK SHb PJSC (MCX: PIKK ), which fell 3.50% or 18.90 points to trade at 520.50 at the close. NOVATEK PJSC (MCX: NVTK ) declined 3.14% or 35.00 points to end at 1,078.00 and Novolipetsk Steel (MCX: NLMK ) was down 2.87% or 3.42 points to 115.94.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 150 to 82 and 16 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 1.48% to 39.86.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.60% or 20.10 to $3,342.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.47% or 0.91 to hit $60.93 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.65% or 1.06 to trade at $63.26 a barrel.

USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 76.90, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 87.43.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 99.28.
