Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Construction , Travel and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 0.47% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Hellenic Exchanges Athens Stock Exchange SA (AT: EXCr ), which rose 15.42% or 0.93 points to trade at 6.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Viohalco SA (AT: VIOH ) added 6.26% or 0.36 points to end at 6.11 and Quality and Reliability SA (AT: QUAr ) was up 3.64% or 0.04 points to 1.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intralot (AT: INLr ), which fell 6.03% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.09 at the close. HELLENiQ ENERGY Holdings SA (AT: HEPr ) declined 5.80% or 0.48 points to end at 7.80 and Intracom Holdings SA (AT: INRr ) was down 3.52% or 0.12 points to 3.29.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 70 to 47 and 28 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.09% or 2.92 to $3,352.72 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.28% or 0.18 to hit $65.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.28 to trade at $67.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 96.75.
